All these cars and large trucks were honking at me on Saturday morning.
Do you wonder why? I was on the side of the road picking up litter. Tim Hortons sponsors a community clean up day and supplies volunteers with bags, gloves and of course hot chocolate and timbits! Our family has gone for many years but this year was great since many other families decided to help clean up the litter as well.
So if I had no limits I would start advertising for people to stop littering, even the small items like cigarette butts because they all add up and look disusting. Hopefully most people will start to realize that we all can make a difference and dumping stuff out of your car or throwing a candy bar wrapper away -even once is not the right thing to do. I would also put more garbage cans near bus stops so that people waiting could put their trash somewhere. The cans need to have lids on them so the trash doesn't blow away too.
So with some money for advertising, garbage cans, and trash collectors time to pick up some extra trash cans, I think we can make a difference on the gigantic problem of littering in all communities.
