Child Rights Club
Panel Session at the UN CRC Conference in Geneva
[video]On the first day at the conference, Cara represented her group (Dialogue in the Public Sector) on the panel and sat next to quite a few experts on child rights. This video shows her commenting on the experts' recommendations. She was nervous because the audience was packed with representatives from all over the world, but they really made her feel comfortable and encouraged her to speak her mind. She even got to sit next to the chairwoman!
After Closing Ceremonies at the UN CRC Conference in Geneva
[video]OMG. That was the first thought to run through Cara's head after the closing ceremonies. The whole experience was pretty surreal for her after participating in Model United Nations conferences in Canada, and then participating in a real UN conference in Geneva. She felt so privileged for being able to be so directly involved in decisions that concern children around the world
Girls of Latitude on MTV
[video] In 2008, the girls of MTV visited Plan projects in Africa, the Caribbean and South America and got their eyes opened to the challenges facing young girls in troubled countries. Their experiences, made possible through a partnership among MTV, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and Plan Canada, were captured on film.
20 Years of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. 20,000 Voices to Go! What about?
Join us in welcoming Plan Europe’s I have a voice! platform www.ihaveavoice.eu!
The decisions taken by European policymakers affect millions of children all over the world. Children might be still too young to vote but their voices count too! To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), Plan will gather children and young people’s voices over a period of one year and share them with European politicians. This campaign highlights the importance of listening to children’s voices and shares what children are calling for as their priorities for the European Union.
With the platform I have a voice! young people up to 18 years from all over the world can tell the European policymakers what they expect them to do for children’s rights.
