Night begins to fall. The sun silently sets on the gravestones, until the last rays of light vanish. Another 8,000 bodies were buried today.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and its fatal partner Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) currently infect an estimated 33 million people. But the impact of HIV and AIDS does not stop with the lives of these individuals – it affects their children, grand-parents, friends and nations as the lives of these people disappear day by day.
Impact of HIV and AIDS in Uganda
[video] This video looks at the impact of HIV/AIDS on children in Uganda. The video features interviews with children suffering from the disease or those who have been orphaned because their parents have died of the disease; interview with Beatrice Muwa, Senior Health Coordinator Plan Uganda and interview with a mother of five living with HIV/AIDS. The film also looks at the help that Plan has given to children and adults suffering because of the disease.
